Sheppard Heights Assembly of God

 OUR NURSERY

At Sheppard Heights we are committed to providing a safe, secure, loving environment for the youngest members and guest of the church. Our nursery caregivers make every effort to help the children feel comfortable and happy in a clean stimulating and well-supervised environment.

 Our Policies
  • Nursery care is available for children during Sunday morning worship services and Sunday School until three years of age.
  • Childcare is also available at selected church activities. The nursery will be open ten minutes prior to and ten minutes following Sunday services and special church events.
  • Parents should pick up children as soon as possible following the services or activities. Sometimes children feel anxious about being left behind if all the other children have gone.
  • All belongings - bags, bottles, pacifiers, cups... should be labeled.
  • For the children's safety, no gum, candy or outside toys (with the exception of security "lovies") are allowed in the nursery.

Healthcare:

Children who show signs of illness cannot be accepted for childcare.  A child should not be left when any of the following exist:

  1. Fever about 100 degrees F (should be free of fever for 24 hours).
  2. Intestinal disturbance accompanied by diarrhea or vomitting.
  3. Any undiagnosed rash
  4. Sore or discharging eyes or ears, profuse colored nasal discharge.
  5. A communicable or infectious disease (measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough, etc.)

If your child becomes ill with a contagious disease following a nursery care session, please inform the church office so other parents may take proper precautions with their children.

Nursery caregivers will:

  1. Not administer any type of medication to the children in their care.
  2. Check baby diapers frequently to see if they need changing.
  3. Change diapers only on the changing table or a changing pad. The table or pad will be cleaned and disinfected after each changing.
  4. Wear disposable gloves while changing a diaper that will be discarded after diaper change or will wash and disinfect their hands after each diaper change or trip to the toilet.   Toddlers will also wash their hands after each trip to the toilet.
  5. Strip and disinfect beds after each use.
  6. Aid individual children in a positive, non-threatening manner who experience difficulty in the group or who temporarily lose their physical or emotional control. Any special concerns or problems that arise will be shared with parents.
  7. Immediately discard broken toys that pose a hazard to the children.
  8. Maintain an orderly physical environment, supervise play activities and enforce safety rules.
  9. Pick up toys and disinfect them after church services each week.

Members,  please volunteer if you are able.
